 WISE® Financial Makeovers

Presented in Partnership with the Orange County Register

How is money working in your life? Are you satisfied with how much you are earning, saving, investing? Is your estate plan up-to-date? Does credit card debt ever get you down? Should you refinance your home? Are you worried about having enough in retirement?

Like most women, you’ve probably worried about one or more of these questions some time recently. At the Invest In Yourself Conference, we heard compelling stories of three women who face similar financial questions and challenges. Our panel of experts shared recommendations and action steps that could apply to our own situations.

Meet the Invest In Yourself Makeover Participants from 2005

Cheryl

  • Divorced, age 63
  • Three children, one new grandchild
  • Works full time – Hospital administrator
  • Concerned her money is not working hard enough for her. Wants to retire in two years but may work part time. Doesn’t want to be dependent on her kids.

Megan

  • Single, 27, works for architecture firm
  • Just bought her first condo
  • Concerned about her saving for her retirement (yes, at age 27!) if Social Security is no longer there.
  • Financial goals: Provide for her future family. Be independent and “make it on her own.” Has savings in cash-wants to know more about investing

Sue

  • Earned more than husband but she was laid off after 17 years
  • Together have $392K in 401(k)s and other savings
  • Home value approximately $650K with $171K mortgage

Apply for a Complimentary Financial Makeover

We believe the financial makeovers are the best way to help in achieving your financial goals. The WISE makeover program is an ongoing program open to any woman who would like to apply for a complimentary makeover, valued at $2,000. However, not everyone who applies will receive a makeover. Potential candidates are interviewed and then notified if they are selected. As part of the agreement, selected candidates agree to allow WISE to publicize the results of the makeover on our website and through an article in the Orange County Register.

For more information on applying to be a candidate for a WISE makeover, contact Linda Barlow or 714-953-1232.
