Speaker Bios:


Erin Browne, Managing Director, PIMCO

Ms. Browne is a managing director and portfolio manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing on asset allocation strategies, including PIMCO’s multi-asset funds and RealPath Blend target date offerings. In her role, she manages multi-asset strategies, leads the Glide Path leadership team, and has served as a rotating member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2018, Ms. Browne was a managing director and head of asset allocation at UBS Asset Management, helping to drive the firm's macro research, capital market assumptions, tactical asset allocation, and strategic asset allocation views across asset classes. Previously, she was head of macro investments at UBS O'Connor, a multi-strategy hedge fund manager, and a global macro portfolio manager at Point72 Asset Management. Ms. Browne has also held roles at Citigroup, Moore Capital Management and Neuberger Berman, and she began her career at Lehman Brothers. She regularly appears on CNBC, Bloomberg Television, and in other financial news media. Ms. Browne serves as the board treasurer of the Ecology Center and sits on the advisory board of Girls Who Invest. She has 19 years of investment experience and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Georgetown University.



Jane Buchan, PhD, CAIA MARTLET ASSET MANAGEMENT

Ms. Buchan is Chief Executive Officer of Martlet Asset Management, an independent firm established in 2018.

Prior to founding Martlet, Jane was Chief Executive Officer of PAAMCO, a fund of hedge funds, which she helped found in 2000, and Co-CEO of the holding company, PAAMCO Prisma Holdings. Under her leadership, the firm grew to $32 billion in assets under management.

Ms. Buchan began her career at J.P. Morgan Investment Management in the Capital Markets Group. She has been an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. She recently served as chairwoman of the board for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Master of Financial Engineering Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management. In addition, she is currently serving on the boards of AGF Management Ltd. and Globe Life Inc.

In March 2020, Jane was named to the Barron's 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance and in 2015 she was named to the Investhedge Hall of Fame.

Ms. Buchan has been actively involved in initiatives to advance the careers of women in finance and is a founding Angel for 100 Women in Finance. She has also been recognized with numerous industry honors and awards.

Jane holds both a PhD and an MA in Business Economics (Finance) from Harvard University. She earned a BA in Economics from Yale University. Jane has thirty-three years of experience in investment management and portfolio construction with institutional investors.


Katy Sherrerd, PhD CFA, Partner, CEO, Research Affiliates

Katrina F. Sherrerd is the chief executive officer of Research Affiliates, a global asset manager dedicated to profoundly impacting the investment community through its insights and products. The firm creates investment strategies and tools based upon award-winning research and delivers these solutions in partnership with some of the world’s premier financial institutions. Katy is also a member of the Research Affiliates board of directors.


As CEO, Katy oversees the operations and resources of the firm, including the establishment of strategy and policy, which allow the firm to deliver on its core mission of conducting cutting-edge research and advancing innovative product development for the benefit of investors. She is dedicated to guiding the firm by fostering a culture of curiosity and respect, encouraging the multiplicity of insights and approaches her global team brings to the table; in her experience this process is the most effective means for achieving sustainable investment outcomes.


Katy joined Research Affiliates in 2006 as a managing director responsible for strategic planning and affiliate relations, and served as president and chief operating officer before becoming CEO. Throughout her professional career, she has worked to further inventive and groundbreaking investment research and to encourage the continuing education of investment professionals around the world. Prior to joining Research Affiliates, Katy spent 19 years in various roles at CFA Institute, the largest global association of investment professionals. As part of the leadership team, she led the research and education effort, including oversight of the Financial Analysts Journal, and spearheaded strategic planning. She was also the executive director and member of the board of trustees of the CFA Institute Research Foundation. In 2020, Katy was named by Barron's as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance.


Katy currently serves on the boards of Rayliant Global Advisors and the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance. Prior to joining Research Affiliates, she was vice chair of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Virginia Retirement System. She was also a visiting professor at the Darden School at the University of Virginia and a lecturer at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.


Katy received her BS in finance from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School, an MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a PhD in finance from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of CFA Institute and CFA Society Orange County.
