"What to Do When a Family Member Passes"

Be Prepared When the Unthinkable Happens

DeDe Soto, J.D., Owner, Soto Law Group, Estate Planning Coach and Speaker

In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to address all legal, tax and insurance matters

  • Contacting health, insurance & SS benefit providers

  • Settling the estate - best practices

  • How to handle social media accounts

  • Helpful resources

“Short-sighted and limited,” are the words DeDe Soto uses to describe traditional estate planning, which is often focused on just financial wealth and taxation. With a background in business and real estate experience, she saw the need to bring a more holistic approach to family wealth planning, and launched the Soto Law Group. Soto and her group is passionate about coaching and teaching to bring a valuable combination to their estate planning clients. Soto believes it is not only about passing on financial wealth, but also intellectual, spiritual and human wealth.

“We can actually pass on our clients’ stories, insights and wisdom to their children, grandchildren and other loved ones so that they don’t get lost when the clients pass away,” she explains. Through the Child Protection Plan, her clients can rest assured, knowing that if something unexpected or unthinkable happens to mom and dad, the kids won’t have to spend time in Child Protective Services/foster care until their permanent guardians can arrive on the scene. Additionally, she can protect the children’s inheritance from later creditors and predators.

On a personal note, she is happily married to her husband Robert and they have a Chihuahua, named Noodle. Both she and her husband are dedicated to assisting and protecting families, and both enjoy volunteering at their church, Mariner’s.
