WISE--On track to Achieve our 2018 Goals!

Dear Fellow WISE Members:

On behalf of our Board of Directors and Advisory Board, we want to wish all of you a wonderful summer holiday, and report on WISE’s activities for the first half of the year. As you are aware, WISE is dedicated to advancing financial literacy for women of all ages ‘from cradle to grave!’ And we do start them young.

Girl Scouts

We began the year participating in the Girls Scouts Cookie Kick Off –more than 700 girls between the ages of 7-15 passed through our money room, where we taught goal setting and budgeting. Fourteen WISE volunteers participated in a fun but exhausting day.

Girls Inc.

So far this year we held seven workshops on credit, college financing, and budgeting. In addition, we have supported Girls Inc’s entrepreneur program for girls ages 8-10, and funded a scholarship for a young girl to attend a fantastic financial literacy and life program at UCI - Lifevest.

Member Programs

For the more “mature” woman (over 15 years old!), WISE sponsored two empowerment events with WomanSage: one on health and wealth, and one upcoming in August on how to hire or fire a financial advisor. WISE also held two very popular salons at the Center Club: the first regarding new tax laws and another with a celebrity speaker, Mary Beth Franklin, one of the foremost authorities on social security in the country.

In all, we have educated over 1200 women on our important message: managing your money wisely gives you more options in life!

Organizational Updates

We also welcome three terrific new board members – Liz DeSousa, Laurie Dubchansky and Jennifer Taylor. These are very talented and busy women, who share our passion of financial literacy and have generously given us their time. Putri Pascualy moved from our Board of Directors to our Advisory Board and continues to contribute in many ways.

It has been a very busy first half of the year!! We are looking for more board members so we can do even more. If you are interested send us an e-mail.

We are also asking for donations to help further our mission. If you can contribute, click here.

Warm Regards,

Angela Dailey and Darlene March, co-presidents.
