Samantha Foster

Samantha Foster is a Managing Director at Russell Investments with responsibility for non-profit solutions. She leads the firm's non-profit practice in developing and delivering investment management solutions. Sam works with boards, committees, and staff to develop customized investment strategies and help solve unique problems for each client; this work includes investment strategy and implementation, risk management, asset allocation, operations, and culture.

Sam spent 10 years managing total endowment asset allocation and risk for the University of Southern California, as well as making endowment investments and all non-endowment investments. At Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (PAAMCO), she chaired the Risk Management Committee. Prior to business school, she was a Quantitative Research Analyst for the Bailard International Equity mutual fund. Sam is an active committee member for the Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) and Women in Institutional Investing Network (WIIIN) organizations. Sam earned a B.S. from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.


 

Molly Murphy

Molly Murphy has more than 30 years of investment experience and currently oversees the investment portfolios as Chief Investment Officer of the Orange County Employees Retirement System with assets under management of $22 billion. Ms. Murphy joined OCERS in 2017 after many years as CIO of a non-profit health system. Previous to that role, with a background in trading and portfolio management, Ms. Murphy was the co-founder and CIO of a boutique investment firm serving the bespoke needs of institutional fixed income investors, held roles managing fixed income mutual funds and was the head of the institutional fixed income trading desk for a top tier bank and trust company.


Under her direction, OCERS was awarded the 2018 Public Pension Plan of the Year in the Small Plan category. As Chief Investment Officer of OCERS, Ms. Murphy has been named to the 2020 All-Star Chief Investment Officers list by Trusted Insight and the 2021 Global Top 50 Women in Investment Management by Institutional Investor. She was awarded the 2022 CIO Industry Innovation Award for Public Defined Benefit Plans from $21 billion to $99 billion, and in both 2021 and 2022, she was named to the Power 100 List by CIO Magazine, recognizing the top CIOs from across the globe.


Ms. Murphy is a graduate of Miami University and Xavier University and is a CFA charter holder. She is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences, such as the Women’s Private Equity Summit, Institutional Investor Public Funds Forum, SACRS, and the Milken Institute Global Conference.

 

Natalie N. Trevithick, CFA

Natalie Trevithick is a Director and the Head of Investment-Grade Corporates at Payden & Rygel and a member of the firm's Investment Policy Committee. Natalie is responsible for managing corporate bond portfolios across a breadth of fixed-income strategies, including low duration, core and core plus, global, emerging markets and absolute return. Her experience also encompasses the use of derivatives such as interest rate and credit default swaps to manage risk and to develop customized investment solutions for corporate bond portfolios.


Prior to joining Payden & Rygel, Natalie spent six years at PIMCO in a similar capacity as a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager. Prior to that, she worked at Barclays Capital as a sell-side trader in New York.


Natalie earned an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
